Cabbie found not guilty of sexual assault

A Halifax cabbie has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a passenger, according to Local Xpress.

A police officer spotted the cab stopped in the south end early in the morning of May 22 2015 with a very drunk woman unconcious and half naked in the back seat. 40 year old Bassam Al-Rawi was in his seat with his pants undone.

While Judge Gregory Lenehan said some of the evidence was concerning and very disturbing, the Crown failed to prove that the woman did not consent to sexual activity and he aquitted al-Rawi.
