Online Fundraiser for Family of Girl who Died in Annapolis Tractor Accident

An online fundraising campaign has been launched to help the family of a young girl who died in a tractor accident in Annapolis County earlier this month. Seven year-old Sia Van Wyck was struck by a combine in Clementsville on July 19th. She was airlifted to a Halifax hospital but later died from her injuries. Her family was visiting from Maine and have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover their medical costs. Her family estimates the tragedy left with them a medical bill between 20- to-25-thousand-dollars.

Tall Ships Arrive in Nova Scotia

Vessels are docking in Halifax Harbour today for the international tall ships regatta. Thirty tall ships are expected to dock in Nova Scotia as part of the transatlantic race. The regatta spans seven-thousand nautical miles over five months, starting in Great Britain and finishing in France. The provincial government says it’s spending one-and-a-half million dollars to help communities host the final leg of the race. Between August 4th and 6th a number of tall ships will make stops in Sydney, St. Peter’s and Louisbourg. The ships will also visit Digby on August 15th and take part in a sail past of Annapolis Royal on August 16th.
