Jail time for a Reserve Mines teen

A teen has been sentenced to three years in prison for trafficking drugs.

19 year old Mathew Isaiah Degaust of Reserve Mines pleaded guilty earlier and took full responsibility.  So the Crown dropped charges against co-accussed Katelyn Taylor McInnis of Glace Bay.  She was arrested along with Degaust when police arrested him outside his house and seized cocaine, Percocet, marijuana, magic mushrooms and Ritalin.

NS mental health program

The government will implement all four recommendations from an expert panel set up to find new ways to help those with mental health issues or addictions.

The government is planning to beef up mental health supports offered to children and youth through school facilities.  Provincial taxpayer’s will provide 4.4-million dollars by 2019-20 in SchoolsPlus to add 51 new mental health clinicians, SchoolsPlus facilitators; and community outreach workers in schools.
