Woman Arrested for Arson in Dartmouth Fire

A 40-year-old woman is facing arson charges following a suspicious fire in Dartmouth last night. Police and fire fighters were called to a fire at a building on Pleasant Street shortly before 6pm. No on was injured but the building suffered significant damage in the blaze and the Red Cross says three people in two apartment units have been displaced. Police say evidence at the scene indicated the fire was suspicious in nature. Police investigating the matter identified a potential suspect and took a 40-year-old woman into custody a short time later. Police say investigators have since determined the fire was deliberately set and the woman will be appearing in Dartmouth court to face arson charges at a later date.

Two Face Drug Charges after South Shore Traffic Stop

Police have charged a man and a woman with drug-related offences following a traffic stop in Nova Scotia. R-C-M-P say 38-year-old Cody Worthen and 27-year-old Janine Hamilton from Barrington were arrested following the stop on Highway 103. Mounties said they seized cocaine, scales, cash, cell phones, and marijuana from the vehicle. The suspects were released and are set to appear in Shelburne Provincial Court in October.
