Two Sydney men are facing charges after the theft of a generator early yesterday morning. It was taken from the rear of the Maritect Security building on Charlotte Street.
Witnesses gave police information which led to the arrests of George William Giusti and Gregory Charles Leyte on break, enter and theft charges. The generator was recovered.
Fishermen have lost their court fight to have a tidal turbine removed from Minas Passage.
The Bay of Fundy Inshore Fishermen’s Association argued that the environment minister granted approval of the Cape Sharp Tidal project without enough environmental data.
Justice Heather Robertson rejected the group’s claims, saying extraordinary efforts were made to evaluate risk.
She added that careful monitoring, study; and reporting is in fact consistent with the cautionary principle and reflected in the rolling out of this demonstration project.
