One person was taken from a burning building in Florence on Friday afternoon. The blaze broke out in the rear of building on Main Street around 2:30pm. The Cape Breton Post is reporting that three fishing boats and large number of traps were saved from the flames. No official word yet on what caused the fire.

Wharf Rat Rally Barred from Using Digby Airport
Due to insurance issues, the Wharf Rat Rally can no longer use the Digby-Annapolis Regional Airport runway. Digby Municipal Council says that the property’s insurance does not cover hosting events there, and that would be a risk to the municipality. Wharf Rat Rally executive director Laura Simmons says it was a far away location, and they’re now planning an alternative event downtown instead.
