The Cape Breton Regional Municipality has issued a stop work order to a group converting the historic Bank of Montreal building in Sydney into a museum. Built in 1899, the Old Sydney Society had hoped to have work on the building completed in time to open on May 1st. The municipality says the original drawings for the group’s plans were rejected as inadequate and a stop work order has been issued. The group is in the process of having their plans redrawn but it’s unclear how long it will delay the museum’s opening.
