Free Lobster after Truck Overturns in Port Mouton, NS

40-thousand-pounds of live lobster spilled onto highway 103 in Port Mouton after a truck overturned on Saturday. The Kings County News reports that the truck carrying the lobster overturned around 1am on Saturday morning. RCMP and the Liverpool Fire Department were called to the scene and the highway was closed for over five hours. The driver of the truck was not hurt in the incident. Crews saved what lobster they could while clearing the roadway to reopen the highway. After that police gave permission to people stopping at the scene to collect and keep what lobster remained in the ditch.

Two People in Custody after Shooting in Cape Breton

Two people are in police custody after shooting in Cape Breton on Friday night. RCMP say they received a 911 call shortly before 11:30pm reporting a man, a farmer in Skye Glen, had been shot in the leg. The victim was treated in hospital and later released. Parts of highway 252 between Whycocmagh and Mabou was shutdown overnight and Saturday morning before reopening Saturday afternoon. No charges have been laid as of yet but two people have been taken into custody. CBC news is reporting that the two in custody and the victim were neighbors.
