A new Canadian Institute of Health Information report shows more of us end up in ERs because of alcohol than heart attacks. The number of Nova Scotians hospitalized for over-consumption was higher than the national average in 2016. We had 308 people for every 100,000, while across Canada it’s 239.

Sydney Mines jail time
A Sydney Mines man is going to prison for drug trafficking.
44 year old John Reynolds pleaded guilty to two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in hydromorphone and cocaine after he was arrested in a raid on a residence June 6th. The judge gave him two and a half years in prison.
Similiar charges against two other men arrested at the scene were dismissed.
