The provincial Office of Regulatory Affairs and Service Effectiveness has released its annual report. It estimates work being done to reduce red tape saves businesses more than $5.3 million a year. Premier Stephen McNeil, the minister responsible for the office, says savings will add up to $25 million by the end of next year.

NS small-business optimism steady in June: CFIB
Nova Scotia’s small business owner optimism remained steady in June. Its Business Barometer Index was 63.5 according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. About 17% of owners are looking to hire while 5% plan cutbacks to full-time employment. About 48% say they’re in good shape while 10% say otherwise.
