The underdog Red Blacks won the Grey Cup with a 39-33 victory in overtime, the Stampeders were heavily favoured.  Henry Burris was named most valuable player throwing for three touchedowns and running in two of his own.

In the Q-League, the Mooseheads shut down the Wildcats 3-0 at the Scotiabank Centre, as the Screaming Eagles beat the Cataracts 6-2.

MHL action had Yarmouth over the Wildcats 3 to 2 in overtime.

In the NHL, the Bruins downed the Lightning 4-1; while the Senators shut down the Rangers 2-0.  The Jets blanked the Predators 3-0, as the Flyers doused the Flames 5-3.  The Coyotes clipped the Oilers 2-1.

In the NFL, the Patriots beat the Jets 22-17.  Kansas City won the late game 30-27 over the Broncos in overtime.

Winter Storm Update (10am)

Much of the Maritimes is seeing its first winter storm of the season today, with some areas of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick expecting up to 15cm of snow and high winds. There have been a number of power outages reported across the province. In Nova Scotia, two outages in the Sydney-Glace Bay area have knocked out power for roughly 1,700 customers. Smaller outages are also affecting a small number of homes in West Brooklyn, Hants County and the community of Waterloo southwest of Bridgewater.
