A huge crowd is gathering in Ottawa mark Canada’s 150th birthday.
Officials have been preparing for months. Much of downtown Ottawa has been closed to vehicles, and security barriers have been set up around Parliament Hill.
About half-a-million people are expected and the government says it will be the biggest Canada Day celebration in the country’s history.
Lots of Canada Day ceremonies around CBRM, but because of the weather, the Canada Day concerts planned for North Sydney and Sydney will be held indoors this evening. The North Sydney concert will begin at 4:00pm at the Emera Centre Northside. The Sydney concert will begin at 6:00pm at Centre 200.
In addition, Louisbourg’s Canada Day celebration to be held at the S&L Railway Museum has been moved to the Louisbourg Firehall at 2:00pm.
