Rothesay men hailed

Three Rothesay men are being called heroes for helping a woman fend off an attacker.

Brandon Childs, Keith Bishop; and Erik Pitre stepped in to stop an assault behind a Hampton Road business.

They were working at KV Rentals when they noticed a man and woman in an altercation in the woods.

45 year old Christopher Albert Belyea of Saint John faces assault and possession of marijuana.

He’s due for a bail hearing on the 13th.

Oromocto rescue

A New Brunswick fire chief says three people are lucky to be alive following a dramatic water rescue.

Jody Price of the Oromocto fire department says crews were called to Wilsey Road at around 1:30 Friday morning after a vehicle landed upside down in a ditch full of water.

Two people managed to get out of the vehicle, but firefighters had to rescue one person and two dogs trapped inside.

All three people were taken to hospital, and firefighters took the dogs to their home.
