Salmon anglers in New Brunswick are dealing with a third year in a row of catch-and-release restrictions.
Last year, the number of salmon returning to their native rivers after fattening up at sea was just over 533 thousand, a drop of 27 per cent from 2015.
Salmon are still being taken by indigenous groups that are permitted a small harvest each year at Eel Ground and Red Bank, along with Quebec’s Listuguj First Nation.
