Sears setting up call centre in Edmundston

Sears Canada is setting up a new a new business service centre in Edmundston.

180 jobs will be created and eventually hundreds more across the country as the department store chain sets up a customer loyalty team. The Edmundston centre will include a call centre as well as I-T support. It should be taking calls in the spring.

The province is helping with $3.5 million in funding through payroll rebates and loans.

Military suspension update

There’s still no word from Ottawa on why Vice-Admiral Mark Norman, the number 2 officer in the military, has been suspended.

Some media reports say RCMP have been called in to investigate allegations that sensitive documents about the massive shipbuilding plan were leaked. That has cast a cloud over the $35 billion program.
