Google and Facebook in Canada

Google and Facebook are fighting what they call a punitive tax on advertisers by the Trudeau Government.

Representatives from the two Canadian arms of the companies were in Ottawa to speak to a Commons committee. They said tax changes aimed at helping Canadian publishers fight for revenues with online aggregators would hurt advertisers.

Border tensions

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale will be meeting with his American counterpart to talk about issues or tensions along the border.

The meeting between Goodale and Homeland Security John Kelly comes after President Trump’s travel ban resulted in the cancellation of hundreds of trusted-traveller cards held by Canadian residents.
