McKenna pushes for second reactor at Lepreau

Former premier Frank McKenna is pushing for a second nuclear reactor at Pt. Lepreau, saying it is rapidly emerging as a viable energy option.

McKenna sent an opinion piece to the Telegraph-Journal saying it’s been a long time coming and now we are witnessing the best set of conditions in recent history for a revival of the dream of a second reactor. He writes that it would be a big boost to the economy…and would be transformational for Saint John and New Brunswick.

The government issued a statement Monday saying it is committed to looking at every opportunity to explore green energy options…but it would be premature to comment further.
