Petition Calls For Public Inquiry into Ice Storm Response

A petition has begun circulating calling for a public inquiry into the provincial government’s response to last month’s ice storm. Roger St.Pierre, a resident of Maltempec on the Acadian Peninsula, started the petition. He tells CBC a lack of communication from the government left many waiting at home without heat or food for ten days. Two people died and dozens more were injured, mostly from carbon monoxide poisoning, as a result of the storm which at its peak knocked out power to 130-thousand-homes in New Brunswick.
