First Confirmed Case of Rabies in NB this Year

Tests on a skunk have confirmed the presence of rabies in New Brunswick. Samples of a skunk that had to be euthanized after being found in Charlotte County last week with porcupine quills in it were sent for testing. Those tests confirmed the first case of rabies in New Brunswick this year. After 24 confirmed cases two years ago the province undertook an oral-vaccine baiting program. The skunk found last week is only the second confirmed case of rabies in New Brunswick since the baiting program began.
