Dr. Eilish Cleary won’t be replaced until office made more independent: Boudreau

Health Minister Victor Boudreau says Dr. Eilish Cleary won’t be permanently replaced until the office of the chief medical officer is made more independent.  That was a Liberal campaign commitment, and reinforced yesterday in the Legislature when brought up.  Cleary was fired in 2015, and Jennifer Russell has been acting in the position.

Two suspicious deaths at east side hotel

The major crime unit of the police is at the Best Western Hotel on Majors Brook Drive investigating an apparent double homicide. The investigation is in its early stages and no details are available yet, other than the call came in from the hotel yesterday evening.

Police have cordoned off one corridor on the ground floor but guests are allowed to come and go.
