Very young robbery suspect

A very young Moncton boy has admitted to holding up a convenience store with a knife.

The 12 year old boy admitted to robbing the Second Avenue Convenience store while wearing a mask last month. He also admitted to paying someone $20 dollars to act as his getaway driver. His mother turned him in to the Mounties.

A psychiatric assessment found the boy criminally responsible and fit for trial. He’ll be sentenced May 10.

Be careful on the snowbanks

Here’s a cautionary tale.

No charges will be laid after a 14 year old girl was run over in Moncton yesterday.

RCMP say the girl was walking on the street because of snow-clogged sidewalks and started to climb a snowbank to get out of the way of an approaching truck. But she slipped down onto the road and the truck ran over her legs. She was taken to hospital but her injuries were described as not serious.

RCMP say the girl was walking facing traffic. The truck was making a legal turn and the driver’s view was blocked by the snowbank. No charges are being considered.
