The jelly bean buildings will be torn down.
The historic buildings on Wellington Row will be demolished to make room for a mixed income apartment building because it would just be too expensive to preserve and fix them up. Saint John Non-Profit Housing had the option on the buildings. They must be demolished before May 1.
The Supreme Court of Canada will rule this week on whether judges were wrong to deny Dennis Oland`s bid for bail while he appealed his murder conviction.
Oland is out on bail now, of course, awaiting a new trial. But his lawyers felt this was a matter that should be discussed in the top court of the country…when convicted killers should be granted bail during appeals. The Supreme Court will deliver its decision Thursday.
