APP for bus riders

There’ll be a new app for bus riders, according to the Times and Transcript. They will be able to use their smartphones to pay for passes.

Moncton city council agreed to a one-year pilot project with Hot Spot Inc. of Fredericton which will allow bus users to subscribe to a phone app where passes can be purchased. Patrons buy bus passes on their phone and then use it when they need it. When you board the bus, you press board bus on the app and then show it to the driver as proof of payment. But it’s not free…it does require a $2 a month subscription from users.

Jobs lost in St. Stephen

Another hard job hit in St. Stephen, according to CBC.

33 employees at Superior Tanks have been laid off with no notice and the doors locked. The firm is owned by Granby Industries of Quebec which said the market is shrinking so it will be concentrating production in its other plants. The company, however, will continue manufacturing fibreglass signs for service stations in St. Stephen employing 5 people.
