The fire department says home renovations nearly burned down a home in Saint John on Saturday. Fire officials tell the Telegraph journal a soldering gun that ignited lint in a clothes dryer caused the fire which broke out shortly before 1pm on Longview Court. The fire was quickly extinguished. Two people fled the home, with the male homeowner being treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. the home suffered minor smoke and water damage.

Fredericton Police Wearing Body Cameras
Police in Fredericton are launching a 90-day pilot project that will some of it’s officers wear body mounted video cameras. Six officers in the force’s Traffic Safety Section and Primary Response team will be equipped with the camera’s for the next three months. Officers will use their own discretion as to when it’s appropriate to record with the devices and say they will notify members of the public when they are being recorded. The footage will be gathered until the end of June when the Fredericton police will evaluate the benefits.
