A sentencing hearing was held yesterday for a drug dealer found guilty of causing the death of one of his customers.

The Crown is seeking a minimum term of three years in prison for 28 year old Richard Valiquette. He was found guilty of criminal negligence in the death of 17 year old Gavin Adams whose body was found in a snowbank in December 2013. The maximum sentence is life.

A well-known Saint John businesswoman has passed away. Anne-Marie Mullen’s health had deteriorated in recent months and she passed away in palliative care.

Mullen owned the House of Tara on Prince William Street. But she was better known as Chair of the Police Commission and her long term support for the police.

Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long and Jennifer Carhart, who succeeded Mullin as police board chair in January, were among those offering condolences to her husband and two daughters.
