Marijuanna bill introduced

The Trudeau government has introduced its marijuanna bill.

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says the long-standing criminalization of grass has been an abject failure. Police are spending $3 billion a year trying to stamp out cannabis use.

The bill spells out who can legally buy pot and outlines tough new penalties for selling to minors…but it leaves many regulations up to the provinces such as age limits and where it can be sold.

Canada’s mayors want more effort by Ottawa to reduce O-D deaths

The country’s Mayors’ Task Force is recommending Ottawa set a national standard on the collection and sharing of data on overdose deaths.

The painkiller fentanyl has been found to be the leading cause of soaring drug overdose deaths in a third of the cities represented by the task force. The mayors say there has to be a better response to addictions and overdoses.
