The Gallant Government has announced 67 schools will offer early French immersion programs starting this fall…including six where it currently isn’t offered.
Premier Gallant says his government is bring French immersion back to Grade One because studies show when it comes to learning a second language, the earlier kids start the better. There’ll also be a pilot project for areas which have shown some interest but not enough to warrant an immersion class.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow for the four people killed in the house fire in St. George.
Officials have confirmed Esther Boyd and her adult sons Billy, Davey and Robbie all died of smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire has not been determined…but it’s not considered suspicious.
St. George may have only 1,500 residents but 400 of them are expected to turn out for the funeral tomorrow. Main Street will be closed at noon to accomodate the large crowd at the church and a reception after the funeral.
