More daycare spaces coming

The Premier has announced more money to produce more daycare spaces in the province.

The Times and Transcript reports Premier Brian Gallant announced his government will add $1 million to the fund designed to create more rural, infant and extended hours child-care spaces.  The Early Learning and Child Care Trust Fund, first established in 2007, has spent $6.1 million creating about 1,900 infant spaces, 1,250 rural spaces, and 518 extended hour spaces.

Gallant said his government has promised 6,000 new daycare spaces by 2020 and so far 2,300 have been created.

Federal funding for Beaverbrook Art Gallery

The federal government is giving the Beaverbook Art Gallery in Fredericton over half a million dollars to help with renovations./

The money will be used for upgrades and specialized equipment, include new lighting, a public address system, security equipment and a new heating system. The Gallery is currently undergoing a multimillion-dollar expansion which should be done later this year.
