RCMP trial is underway

The Crown says some of the Mounties killed in Moncton that terrible night in 2014 might have survived had the RCMP complied with labour laws.

Paul Adams told the opening of the trial on Labour Code charges in Moncton yesterday he was not alleging a failure by the Force was the direct cause of death and injury. However, he did say there might have been a different outcome had there been proper training and equipment.

Plea deal in Wylie murder?

A guilty plea is expected next week from one of the people charged in the murder of Baylie Wylie.

Lawyers for Tyler Noel were in a Moncton courtroom yesterday for a pre-trial hearing but told the judge their client would be entering a guilty plea next week after a plea agreement with the Crown was reached…but they didn’t say to what exactly. Noel is charged with first degree murder and arson in Wylie’s death. The judge adjourned the matter until Tuesday.

Devin Morningstar was convicted of first-degree murder in November and got life with no parole for 25 years. Marissa June Shephard is also facing charges but no trial date for her has been set yet.
