Buckland Merrifield Gallery to host newly discovered works by late Fred Ross

The Buckland Merrifield Gallery will host an exhibition of artwork by the late Fred Ross.  Saint John’s most celebrated artist was honored with membership in the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, and the orders of Canada and New Brunswick.   A number of works were discovered in his studio after his 2014 death, with some being part of this special exhibition.  Part of the proceeds will go toward the Fred and Sheila Ross scholarships.

New gay-nightclub owner worried about confusion with city over licence application

The owner of a new gay nightclub in Saint John is worried about a misunderstanding of what it is.  Joshua Ernst opened Club Montreal a week ago, and told the Telegraph-Journal he’s worried about false advertising if the exotic entertainment licence has issues.  Mayor Don Darling has readied a letter to the province about reconsidering the application, and Ernst believes the city thinks it’ll be a strip club.  The licence is just for Chippendale dancers.
