Pt. Lepreau back on the grid as licensing hearings resume

Officials say Pt. Lepreau has reconnected to the grid following completion of a planned maintenance outage.

The station was taken offline on April 7th. During the outage, the province says about five-thousand maintenance activities were carried out on equipment and systems on both the nuclear and conventional parts of the station.

Also, a three-day public hearing gets underway today for the Point Lepreau licence renewal.

The current one expires in June and the utility has applied for another five-year licence for the nuclear generating station.
