Three More 19th Century Homes Demolished in Saint John

Three more historic 19th century homes in Saint John have been torn down. Saint John Non-Profit Housing held ownership of the uptown homes and say their being demolished to make way for a housing development. The three home’s torn down on Friday date back to the 1860’s. In April, a number of more colourful homes from the same time period, known at the jellybean houses’ were also torn down to make way for a new development.

Police Warn of Counterfeit Money in NB

Police in New Brunswick are warning the public after counterfeit Canadian bills that have turned up five times in the Saint John area within the past couple of weeks. Phoney One Hundred, Fifty, Twenty and Ten Dollar denominations have been recovered. Police say while they have been made to replicate the new polymer bills – they’re poor quality fakes that feel like paper rather than plastic and lack security features. The bills have also been printed with small Chinese characters on them.
