Enterprise Saint John update

Enterprise Saint John has been working on a work plan for the next five years and has sent it to the area’s mayors who have been reluctant to put more money into the development agency.

Enterprise Saint John’s chairman Larry Hachey told the Telegraph-Journal the plan focuses on supporting local businesses and helping them grow.

An oversight committee made up of the area’s five Mayors will go over the plan then meet with the agency to discuss it.

Turmoil in the NDP

Dominic Cardy hasn’t ruled out joining the Conservative Party now that he’s quit the NDP, according to CBC.

Cardy announced on New Year’s day he was stepping down as leader of the New Democrats because of infighting in the party which resulted in them not winning any seats in the last election. It’s believed he had conflicts with CUPE’s boss in New Brunswick…and Danny Legere isn’t sad to see him go.

However, Cardy may not be gone from provincial politics for long. He says he has a great deal of respect for the new leader of the Conservatives, Blaine Higgs.

Cardy wasn’t the only one resigning from the NDP either. Sharon Scott-Levesque also resigned as provincial party president saying the NDP no longer represents her values for a progressive New Brunwick.
