Saint John Shelter Will Reopen

The Safe Harbour youth shelter in Saint John will reopen, but not until next March; according to the Anglican Diocese of Fredericton. That became possible thanks to a donation of 5.5 million dollars to the diocese, from the estate of Dorothy Wilkes, who died at the age of 100 in January of 2015. The 10-bed shelter was shuttered in January of this year, after a lien was put on the property.

Sydney Craft Fair Will Change Future Dates to Avoid Remembrance Day Conflicts

Organizers of a craft fair at Sydney’s Centre 200 say they will change the dates of their annual event next year. The Home Crafters of Cape Breton Fair created a controversy this year after remembrance day ceremonies were forced to a smaller venue. Despite the local legion coming to their defense, some fair organizers became the target of unwarranted threats and ridicule. Organizers of the fair tell the CBC that starting next year the event will be held the third week of November to avoid any future conflict. This years craft show at Centre 200 is going on right now and will continue through Sunday.
