PEI Based Company Buys Another Moncton Hotel

A PEI based company has added another Moncton hotel to its portfollio. The Charlottetown Guardian is reporting that D.P. Murphy Hotels and Resorts has purchased the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Moncton. The same company also recently purchased the Quality Inn in Dieppe and now boasts four hotels in the Moncton area. D.P Murphy now holds 11 properties in eastern Canada along with a number of Tim Hortons and Wendy’s franchises.

NB Man Found Guilty in 18.7-Million-Dollar Maple Syrup Heist

A Kedgwick, New Brunswick man has been found guilty in connection with a maple syrup heist in Quebec. Etienne Saint-Pierre was one of a group of men charged with taking part in the theft of over nine thousand barrels of maple syrup from Quebec between August of 2011 and July of 2012. CBC reports that Saint-Pierre was found guilty on Saturday in a Trois Riveres, Quebec courtroom. In August of 2012 authorities discovered barrels of syrup at warehouse in Quebec had been empties and refilled with water. The stolen syrup had an estimated value of 18.7-million-dollars.
