21-Year-Old Man Killed in Halifax Shooting

A 21-year-old man is dead after a shooting near Clayton Park on Saturday evening. Halifax police say they received a call about shots fired at an apartment building on Washmill Lake Drive shortly after 5pm. Police nearby were on the scene of the shooting within seconds. The body of the victim, covered by a tarp, was still visible laying in a parking lot hours after the shooting. Police have confirmed that five males were taken into custody. One has since been released. Washmill Lake Road, which connects Clayton Park to Bayers Lake, remained closed until roughly 8pm. The Major Crime Unit is investigating the shooting.

Pedestrian Struck in Clayton Park

A 41-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital after being struck by car near the intersection of Main Avenue and Dunbrack Street on Saturday afternoon. Halifax police say the man was crossing Main Avenue around 4pm when he was struck by car driven by a 22-year-old man. His injuries are not considered life threatening. Police say the pedestrian was not in marked crosswalk at the time of the collision and the incident is still under investigation.
