Winter Storm Update (10am)

Much of the Maritimes is seeing its first winter storm of the season today, with some areas of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick expecting up to 15cm of snow and high winds. There have been a number of power outages reported across the province. In Nova Scotia, two outages in the Sydney-Glace Bay area have knocked out power for roughly 1,700 customers. Smaller outages are also affecting a small number of homes in West Brooklyn, Hants County and the community of Waterloo southwest of Bridgewater.

Impaired Driving Charges after Vehicle Flees Collision with Truck and Crashes into Pole

One man is facing impaired driving charges after fleeing the scene of an accident before crashing a second time early Sunday morning. Halifax Police spotted the vehicle speeding with a flat front tire on North West Arm Drive shortly before 4am. It was later learned the vehicle had fled from a collision with a truck. Police pursued the vehicle but it soon crashed into a pole on North West Arm Drive near Osborne Avenue. One male has been arrested for impaired driving. Two male passengers in the vehicle have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
