CBRM travel expenses

CBRM Council is reviewing travel expenses for councillors and staff, according to the Cape Breton Post.

Councillors are looking at eliminating the current system where they get $140 a week for travel expenses.  The idea is to replace that with a system requiring receipts and travel log books.  Councillor Steve Gillespie’s motion also calls for a system that would see all city employees getting expense payments to post them in detail online.

CBRM’ Youth Council

CBRM’s Youth Council for this year held its first meeting yesterday, but there was something or someone missing.

The Cape Breton Post reports that while there was good representation from many areas there wasn’t any students from New Waterford.  So the municipality is asking youths, aged 14 to 18 from there, to come forward and take part.

The Council will provide recommendation to city council on what they would like to see done, and they will make recommendations, as well, on how to spend $25,000 in funding.
