Electoral reform

The Trudeau government says it can’t move ahead with plans for electoral reform without a clear consensus from Canadians.

New Democratic Institutions Minister Karina Gould says her new mandate spells out that she won’t be proposing a new system.

Green Party leader Elizabeth May says she felt deeply shocked and betrayed — adding that her party had urged people to vote strategically for the Liberals, in hopes of seeing electoral reform.

A warning for Iran

Without really explaining what it means, national security adviser Michael Flynn says the U-S has put Iran “on notice.”

That comes after an Iranian ballistic missile test, and allied rebels in Yemen attacking a Saudi naval vessel.

Flynn told the media that Iran is “feeling emboldened” and pointed the finger at what he termed failures of Barack Obama’s foreign policy.
