An injured hiker had to be rescued just outside Halifax on Saturday morning. A Halifax Fire rescue boat was able to reach the injured man by water in Duncan’s Cove. The man was reportedly hiking the Chebucto Head Trail when he slipped and suffered a suspected broken ankle. The injured hiker was taken to the Ketch Harbour wharf and transported to hospital by ambulance.

Unemployment Rates Drop in Maritime Provinces
Unemployment rates in each Maritime province dropped last month. PEI’s unemployment rate dropped from 10.5 percent in December to 9.8 percent in January. Despite losing 3-thousand net jobs, fewer people looking for work helped drop New Brunswick unemployment rate drop to 8.9 percent. Stats Can says jobs added in Nova Scotia dropping the unemployment rate to 7.7 per cent down from 8.3 per cent in December.
