Shephard sentenced for assaulting jail guard

Marissa Shephard has been given four months in jail for assaulting a guard.  She pleaded guilty to last July’s incident at the New Brunswick Women’s Correctional Centre in Miramichi. She’s there awaiting a preliminary inquiry for first-degree murder and arson in the 2015 death of Baylee Wylie.

Boudreau recuses himself from Parlee Beach dispute

Health Minister Victor Boudreau has recused himself from any role in a controversy in Parlee Beach.

Boudreau told CBC a working group of civil servants began considering a moratorium on development at the beach where Boudreau has a 20% stake in a large campground. The minister met with the privacy commissioner and he won’t be taking part in cabinet discussions on the issue…and won’t even be briefed on it. Boudreau said he didn’t want to be a a distraction on a very important issue.
