RCMP trial
An officer testifying at the RCMP Labour Code trial in Moncton said there’s no doubt in his mind that having a high-powered carbine rifle would have made a difference in the shooting rampage.
Constable Eric Dubois recalled watching from behind his cruiser, wounded and bleeding, as shooter Justin Bourque casually walked across the street about 30 metres away…out of range of his nine-millimetre pistol. Dubois said the Mounties felt like they were being hunted and did not have the firepower to respond. Had he had a carbine, Dubois said Bourque would have gone down.
