Construction Underway on Moncton Paid Blood Plasma Clinic

Construction has begun on a pay-for-plasma clinic in New Brunswick Ontario-based Canadian Plasma Resources is still awaiting approval from Health Canada for the blood plasma clinic, and the company’s C-E-O says its location is near the University of Moncton. Ontario and Quebec have banned the practice of paying people to donate blood plasma, but the company currently operates a donation clinic in Saskatoon. Donors can give plasma once a week, and the company gives them either a charitable tax receipt or a 25-dollar gift card.

Saint John Council to Discuss Salaries on Monday

Common Council is expected to discuss how much money it makes at the meeting Monday. A report from an external consultant on council salaries is on the agenda, according to the Telegraph-Journal…but no details have been released. The bylaw governing council salaries hasn’t been updated in 15 years. It says the Mayor makes $38,000 in annual salary plus an allowance of $19,000 for expenses. Councillors are paid $12,666 a year with an allowance of $6,333. That’s what was set in 2001.
