Dr. Eilish Cleary won’t be replaced until office made more independent: Boudreau

Health Minister Victor Boudreau says Dr. Eilish Cleary won’t be permanently replaced until the office of the chief medical officer is made more independent.  That was a Liberal campaign commitment, and reinforced yesterday in the Legislature when brought up.  Cleary was fired in 2015, and Jennifer Russell has been acting in the position.

Suspended sentence for O’Donnell

Joseph Garrick O’Donnell has been given a suspended sentence for pointing a gun at his brother-in-law.  The 58-year-old Miramichi man had admitted to the February 2016 incident at a Wellington Street home.  He also got a year’s supervised probation, fines and bans, and has already served house arrest and time in custody.
