Late whale rescuer Joe Howlett is being honoured publicly by celebrities who appreciate his efforts. Author Margaret Atwood called the Campobello Island man “heroic” on Twitter, and comedienne Sarah Silverman called him “a Saint”. Howlett was killed on Monday while rescuing a right whale in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Next batch of Queen Elizabeth Park upgrades to start
The province is putting money into the next round of upgrades at Queen Elizabeth Park. $97,600 is to be matched by the city, with the money going toward a new downtown wifi system and wireless sound system, landscaping, benches, picnic tables, interpretive signage and more.
