Beginning today, the Miramichi Rivermen will be hosting the Major Midget Atlantic Championship at the Miramichi Civic Centre.  You can get tickets at the Newcastle Pizza Delight, the Portage Restaurant; and all Miramichi Petro Canada’s.

In the Q-League playoffs, the Mooseheads beat the Huskies 3-1 to tie their series at two game apiece.  The Islanders swept the Drakkar with a 4-1 win in game four.  The Screaming Eagles lost 4-3 to the Olympiques and now have a three game to one lead.  The Sea Dogs swept the Oceanic with a 4-3 win in game four.

In NHL action, just one Canadian team on the ice; the Kings beat the Flames 4 to 1.

In the NBA, it was the Hornets over the Raptors 110 to 106.

NBCC honoured for awareness work for murdered and missing Indigenous women

NBCC has been honoured for its work bringing attention to murdered and missing Indigenous women. Gertrude Nicholas and Marlene Ward of Red Teepee Creations created seven wooden Feathers of Understanding, which were presented at a ceremony today in Fredericton.  The college holds annual Sisters in Spirit vigils at all campuses, and has the Aboriginal Bursary among its efforts.
