Fentanyl confirmed in suspected overdoses

Health Canada has confirmed pills seized by the RCMP in Esgenoôpetitj contained fentanyl.  Five people from the community have been hospitalized since last week from suspected overdoses, with one other case but the person was treated with naloxone.  The cause of death of a 35-year-old woman is still being investigated.

Provincial funding for early childhood literacy

The province is investing more than $140,000 to help families encourage a love of reading at an early age. Premier Brian Gallant highlighted programs today in conjunction with New Brunswick Literacy Day.  Parents of newborns can get a free gift bag of books, which also have information describing and promoting the importance of early childhood literacy.  They’re available in either English or French.
