The province’s French language school board has voted to close four of its schools in southwestern Nova Scotia. At a meeting on Saturday morning the Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial passed motions to go ahead with the closure of the four elementary schools in the Municipality of the District of Clare. École Saint-Albert in Salmon River and École Jean-Marie-Gay Saulnierville will close after the next school year in July of 2018. École Joseph-Dugas in Church Point and École Stella-Maris in Meteghan will close in 2022. The french language school board says the focus will be on building a new centrally located elementary school to replace the four that are closing.

Acadia Receives Federal Funding for Pesticide Alternatives
Acadia University is receiving 3-million dollars in federal funding to continue research on developing greener pest control methods. The announcement of funding through ACOA was made this week by Catherine McKenna, the federal Minister of the Environment. The money will go towards continued research and commercialization efforts of alternative pest controls solutions with aim of reducing our dependence on harmful pesticides.
