RCMP advise you to be cautious after a Digby woman was scammed out of over $35,000. She was called early Monday morning by someone claiming to be from Scotiabank Fraud Section, asking if she had charged money to her Visa. After saying no, the suspect talked her into giving remote access to her computer for online banking, and that the bank was being investigated for fraud. Bible Hill Dept. of Agriculture buildings renamed for Bacon, Lorraine
Two buildings in Bible Hill that house Department of Agriculture staff have been renamed for people who helped grow the sector. The Annapolis Building is in honour of former premier Roger Bacon, and the Northumberland Building for late former Agriculture Minister Edward Lorraine. Bacon helped pioneer Nova Scotia blueberry production as a farmer, and Lorraine was also a farmer before entering politics.
