Valley assistance program

Annapolis County has increased support for low-income homeowners.

The income threshold for eligibility for the program has been raised from $20,500 to 24,000, and the exemption amount has been boosted from $175 to $236.

Applications for exemptions will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on April 7th.  Proof of income must be provided.

You can get forms at the county’s three offices in Annapolis Royal, Bridgetown; or Lawrencetown.

NS mental health program

The government will implement all four recommendations from an expert panel set up to find new ways to help those with mental health issues or addictions.

The government is planning to beef up mental health supports offered to children and youth through school facilities.  Provincial taxpayer’s will provide 4.4-million dollars by 2019-20 in SchoolsPlus to add 51 new mental health clinicians, SchoolsPlus facilitators; and community outreach workers in schools.
